Qigong (qìgōng) is an ancient Chinese mind-body practice that combines slow, gentle movements, specific breathing techniques, and focused intention.
- Qì (氣): Refers to the life energy that flows through all living things.
- Gōng (功): Means “skill” or “cultivation.”
Therefore, Qigong is the skill of cultivating life energy. The primary goal is to remove blockages and enhance the flow of Qì through the body’s energy pathways, known as meridians, to improve physical health and emotional balance.

Taiji Ball Qigong is shown to effectively improve more than 45 health conditions
Focus: Opening the Body & Building Internal Strength
- What It Is: Shí Jīn Jīng (十筋經) is a Qigong form centered on stretching and strengthening the body’s network of tendons, ligaments, and fascia (the jīn, 筋). It works along ten primary sinew pathways in the body.
- How It Works: The practice uses dynamic and static stretches to lengthen and soften these connective tissues. In Chinese medicine, tension here obstructs the flow of Qì and blood. By “opening” the body through these movements, you release stored tension, create space in the joints, and allow energy to circulate freely.
- Key Benefits: Builds deep physical strength, increases flexibility, and cultivates a powerful, tangible sense of internal energy (Qì).
Focus: Energetic Cleansing & Recharging
- What It Is: A fundamental practice based on the Daoist principle of the human body as a bridge between the energies of Heaven (Tiān, 天) and Earth (Dıˋ, 地).
- How It Works: The movements are designed to perform an “energy wash.”
1. Cleansing: You draw the energy from Heaven down through your body, purging stagnant or “turbid” energy (zhuó qì, 濁氣) out through the soles of your feet while also exchanging energy with the Earth
2. Collecting: You then draw energy from heaven, the environment, and the Earth to cultivate internal energy and refill your system with fresh, stable energy. - Key Benefits: Leaves you feeling energetically clean, refreshed, centered, and balanced.
Focus: cultivate 5 element qi & self healing
- What It Is: This advanced practice integrates three core concepts: the balance of Taiji (Yin-Yang), the Five Elements theory (Wǔ Xíng, 五行), and the cultivation of a 5 elements colour Qi Ball (a sphere of energy held between the hands and guided by intent).
- How It Works: It uses the five element color Qi ball as a tool to balance the energy of the body’s main organ systems, which are linked to the Five Elements:
- Wood: Liver
- Fire: Heart
- Earth: Spleen/Stomach
- Metal: Lungs
- Water: Kidneys
- By moving the 5 color Qi ball with focused intention related to a specific element, you can strengthen a deficient organ or calm an overactive one, thereby balancing both physical function and the associated emotions.
- Key Benefits: A powerful method for self-healing that harmonizes the internal organs, balances emotions, and restores the body’s natural equilibrium.
